The Clock Is Ticking
The clock is ticking. In 10 days, I will be heading to St. Petersburg to attend and present at the National Eating Disorders Association's Annual Conference. The Conference, which will be held at the Renaissance Vinoy Resort & Golf Club, begins on Thursday, October 11, 2012 and runs through Saturday, October 13, 2012. The topic of my presentation, which is scheduled for Friday, October 12, 2012 from 4:30 p.m. to 5:45 p.m., is: “Navigating In Uncharted Waters: One Dad’s Practical Suggestions For Supporting Your Loved One In All Phases Of The Eating Disorder Journey.”I also have been asked to participate as a panelist in a “Roundtable Series” for Dads entitled: “Tips for Supporting Your Child and Practicing Self-Care.” The Roundtable discussion will be facilitated by Douglas Bunnell, PhD and will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 3:15 p.m. on Saturday, October 13, 2012. Suffice it to say, all of this is several steps outside of my comfort zone, but I'm doing it to honor my daughter, Ashley, in the hope that I can make a difference in the lives of the "other Ashley's" in the world and their loved ones. Let the anxiety attacks begin!
