Somewhere In The World Today
It’s so easy to lose sight of all the good in the world and easier still to lose sight of it in our own. I know because I do it all the time.
But the truth is, somewhere in the world today …
a child will learn to read, and another imagination will be awakened,
a baby will discover they have a voice, and a young woman will rediscover hers,
a little girl will take the stage at her recital and realize her daddy caught an early flight home from a week-long business trip so that he could sit in the front row,
someone battling addiction will take the first (or next) of the many arduous steps on the road to recovery,
a young mother who feared she might not see her children grow up will learn that her breast cancer is in remission,
love will grab a bullhorn and drown out hate,
an inner critic will be silenced just long enough to allow a wondering heart to see its worthiness,
someone will stand up for what little truth is left,
an adopted child will meet their birth mother and realize in the ferocity and warmth of their first embrace that the decision to entrust them to another was borne of love, rather than abandonment,
a story will be shared, loneliness will be dispelled, courage will be displayed, a much-needed good night’s rest will be had, forgiveness will be offered, and a prayer will be answered.
Maybe you or someone you love will be the beneficiary of one of these “today moments” or maybe you (or they) will be tomorrow.
Either way, it promises to be a great day!
